Enva is a leading provider of recycling and resource recovery solutions, operating from over 30 locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The business has grown considerably in the last 6 years via investment in technology and recovery capabilities, alognside multiple large scale acquisitions.

Project background

In 2018, the business was trading under multiple geographically based brands at the time it was acquired by Exponent Private Equity. With an impending large scale growth phase to execute, Exponent required a single, unified, brand and core purpose as a foundation for their future aspirations.

The brief

D4 | bd were tasked with envisioning and rolling a brand for across the mutiple multiple businesses, integrating a variety of digital channels and creating and implementing a marketing and communications strategy to present the organisation one a singular, unified entity as a foundation for the ambitious growth plans ahead.

Brand Consolidation

The initial concept for the brand was developed and the multiple businesses were brought together with a clear and recognisable identity, under a single unified strategic vision. operating brand with a clear and recognisable identify. Alongside the creation of this visual identity, D4bd established a single vision, set of values and core brand framework across the Group.

This had an almost immediate recognition effect, as we then began the integration phase, combining multiple digital communications channels, platforms, systems and physical assets, complimented by a robust brand building and communications strategy to establish a strong foundation for subsequent growth.

Growth Phase & M&A

During this growth phase, D4 | bd successfully merged multiple organisations and brands with a combined £300m turnover. We also created and managed the developing of a Group Marketing & Communications function, prior to its private equity sale in late 2023.

Outcomes

This multi-year project successfully created significant brand equity, contributing to a £300m+ turnover and a sale to US based iSquared Capital for an undisclosed fee in 2023.

Long-term Strategy

In subsequent years, D4 | bd built and led a Marketing & Communications function, building on brand equity and adding further value. This included building and establishing a complex digital advertising strategy for into vast portfolio of product and services, corporate communications, marketing strategies, commercial integration and the development and launch of the Enva foundation.
